Don McIntosh & the Ministry Systems Staff

Back to ICCM '96 Program

They want to provide computer systems & programs for mission teams; thus, The Christian Conference Center (CCC). Most design goes from the top down & most implement goes from bottom up. However, CCC was not done this way: the Lord did the top down design & the technicians did the bottom up design.

The Christian Conference Center:

  1. E-Mail - direct people to people; used practically anywhere; mixed technology.
  2. User requirements
    1. of E-Mail - one to one E-Mail, one to many E-Mail (personal E-Mail lists), auto responder or publisher (one-time or subscribe), many to many (discussion groups, mail forwarding, vacation responder).
    2. of files - file inclusion (mime) & append, file transfer by uuencode/uudecode, file library, mail/address organization aids
    3. of configuration - miscellaneous FTP & Usenet, privacy (personal & community--PGP), LAN & Standalone, multiple users on same machine
    4. of other - support easily available, local ownership, low cost (acquisition & operation), & NO learning curve
CCC includes remote sysop control, multiple ministry teams, an Internet interface, people orientation (not just machine), support for several hundred users, requirements for minimal technical skills.

Ministry Systems provide mail readers for Windows & DOS (the MAC is on our prayer list), a UUCP-oriented database-managed CCC & various current users (Faith Academy, Manila Philippines, etc). The result of Faith Academy using CCC is increasing users from 30 to 300 & expense savings of $500 per month.

Does the MailCall E-Mail reader satisfy the need? Is it versatile, affordable & majority world usable? It even has a novice mode for those who are new in this type of arena.
